"DUST OF PAINT" - [December 2021]

Yassir (b. 1969) carries a diploma in fine art and painting and a bachelor's in fabric design and printing. This background gave him a great flexibility with materials and media. He has a unique pallette that give a vintage aspect to his works.

From the collection of Yasir Idris.

An abstracted collage portrait of the late Abdullah Bola (1943 - 2018). Abdullah Ahmed Basheir (known as Abdullah Bola) was born in Barbar, he graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1960's. Right after, he became a teacher and a reformist at the locally famous Hantoub Secondary School. In the 70's Bola became a critic and an advocate writer. His most popular writings is "The death of an excellent person" where he rejected the social-classes dominant idea of plastic art and called for a more socially engaging and community-indulged approach. He believed arts connected everyone.

Bola was a fighter for democracy, human rights and social justice. He believed and constantly called for the freedom of speech. He insisted that all whom produces something visual is a plastic artist. Whether fashion designers or boat makers.
