SUDAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL - [November 2022]

Following their nomination by SFDAS and the French Institute in Khartoum, artist Adlan Yousif along with egyptian visiting artist Galal Gomaa were placed into a residency hosted at Downtown Gallery since the 1st of November.
The residency program involved the artists studying a series of text books, provided by SFDAS, which discuss various historical facts of ancient Sudan, with a dense and contextual visual information from which the two artists can dissect and abstract. The artists aimed through processing the experience of looking into these archives, at creating a brand new angle of looking into this history and inviting people to it.
The two experienced artists used their 10 days at Downtown Gallery to finalize a collection which will be on exhibit from the 20th to the 24th at IFRS Gallery.
